Newsletter Wins National Award
Second Consecutive Year for the Honor!

Bonnie L. Longo, MAI, receives newsletter award from 2007 Appraisal Institute President Terry Dunkin, MAI, SRA
An Awards Ceremony was held at the Appraisal Institute’s National Leadership Conference. The event, held at The Palace Hotel in San Francisco, was attended by Southern New Jersey Chapter Vice-President Bonnie Longo, MAI.

The following is an excerpt from the award program.

“These awards are based on newsletters that provide the best source of information regarding: 1) chapter, regional and national issues; 2) member recognition; 3) editorials; 4) education offerings; and 5) appearance and presentation, including compliance with the Appraisal Institute’s graphics standards.”
For the Hard-copy Newsletter Award, the Southern NJ chapter won for chapters fewer than 150 members. The South Carolina Chapter won for chapters with more than 150 members. For Electronic Newsletters, the Hampton Roads and Northern California Chapters took honors.

“Congratulations go to Editor Bonnie Longo, MAI, and Executive Director Lisa Weiss who worked very hard to publish award-winning material,” said 2006 Southern New Jersey Chapter President J. Paul Bainbridge, MAI.

He also noted that the chapter has seen significant growth this year. “Chapter membership in 2006 has grown tremendously,” he said. “Membership in January was 128; at the end of September, it was 149. We gained 25 new members and lost 4 -- an increase of about 16.5%. A June membership meeting provided an opportunity for non-members to gain insight on the Appraisal Institute. In the month following that meeting, we welcomed 9 new members.” Bainbridge added that the Long Range Planning Committee, along with Public Relations, have been very successful in getting the Southern New Jersey Chapter of the Appraisal Institute name out in the greater community, helping the organization’s growth.
